Sacred Birman Cat – WCF Standard

Head

Shape: strong framework. Forehead: slightly rounded. Cheeks: full, gently rounded. Nose: medium length, without stop, slightly curved. Chin: strong (consistent).

Ears

ChatGPT je rekel:

Shape: fairly small, with rounded tips. Placement: well spaced, slightly tilted, not too high on the skull.

Eyes

Shape: slightly rounded, gently oval. Color: deep blue.

Body

ChatGPT je rekel:

Structure: slightly elongated. Males are more massive than females.

Legs

Legs: short and strong. Paws: rounded.

Gloves: A characteristic feature of the Sacred Birman cat is the white paws, called gloves, on both the front and back feet. These gloves must be completely white. They should stop at the joint or at the transition between the toes and the metacarpal bones. Slightly higher white gloves on the hind legs are allowed.

On the plantar fascia of the hind legs, the gloves end with points (spurs). The ideal hind glove ends in an inverted “V” shape, extending from 1/2 to 3/4 of the plantar fascia length. Lower or higher gloves are allowed, but they must not extend beyond the joint. It is important that the gloves are of equal length and show symmetry of white coloring between both front and both hind legs, and ideally across all four legs.

Tail

Medium length, bushy in shape.

Coat

Structure: Long or semi-long, in harmony with the body. Short on the muzzle, gradually longer on the cheeks to form a perfect ruff, long on the back and sides. Silky texture. No undercoat or minimal undercoat.

Color: Exhibits all characteristics of Siamese colourpoint cats (pointed coloring), but all four paws are white (gloves). The colored points include the muzzle, ears, legs, tail, and genital area. The points should be uniform and in good contrast with the body color.

The body color follows the description in the general Siamese standards. Only in adult cats are the colors of the points and body fully developed.

Birmans have a compact, cobby body, medium-sized rounded head, medium-length nose, strong chin, and round, deep blue eyes. The bushy tail is proportionate to the body. Legs and paws are short and strong. Sacred Birman cats have medium-long, silky fur, with a slightly curled texture on the belly.

The body has a golden sheen, while the markings on the head, tail, and legs, as in colourpoint cats, can be black-brown, blue-gray, chocolate, or blue. Kittens are born almost white, and the markings appear gradually over time. In an adult Birman, the dark mask covers the entire face, including part under the whiskers, and is connected to the ears by lines.

Since Birmans do not have as long or dense fur as long-haired breeds, it generally does not mat, making grooming easier. Even if a cat goes on an outdoor adventure, the coat is not damaged. However, Birmans are very sensitive to low temperatures, so they should only be allowed outside when it is warm.

Birmans are intelligent and consistently calm companions with gentle voices. They are friendly, affectionate, attached, and playful. They enjoy close contact with humans and other cats.
